Doctors for the new millennium.
Chiropractic science makes up the largest natural healthcare profession in the world. Chiropractic was founded in 1895 - just about the same time modern medical schools came into being. Chiropractic licensure requires graduation from an accredited chiropractic college. This includes a minimum of six years of intensive, full-time study followed by comp., national, and state board examinations.
A recent Harris Poll survey found that patients with back problems were more satisfied with chiropractic treatment than other types of care; and 70 percent of Americans surveyed believe that chiropractic should be included as a basic benefit in health plans. The good news for the estimated 25-30 million Americans who visited a chiropractor last year, is that these doctors are widely reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid, worker's compensation and private insurance.
Indeed, chiropractors and the medical establishment have waged verbal and economic war on one another for many years. But if anyone is keeping score, the chiropractors are winning ground, albeit one spine at a time.
Chiropractic doctors have long been recognized as experts in the treatment of neck and back problems.
The U.S. Government states in a recent study that, for acute low back pain, chiropractic care is, by far, the most effective treatment available when compared to physical therapy and surgery.
In addition to neck and back pain, chiropractors apply many natural modes of treatment to effectively treat a wide variety of conditions such as headaches, sciatica, numbness or tingling in the arms and legs, and carpal tunnel syndrome, to name a few. Also, many problems that are too often treated with drugs, such as childhood ear infections, stomach and intestinal disorders, allergies, and asthma, can be treated through natural approaches. Chiropractic treatment helps your body overcome problems naturally -- without the use of drugs or surgery.
